Yambiro, Ecuador school - 9/10/10

Yambiro is a small village just up the hill from Otavalo. We had the privilege of spending some time with the students and teachers.

This is the library
This is the computer room. There is no internet access in the village but the students are learning the basics of the word processor and how to search using Microsoft Encarta, a digital multimedia encyclopedia published by Microsoft.

Microsoft published similar encyclopedias under the Encarta trademark in various languages, including Spanish.

In March 2009, Microsoft announced it was discontinuing Encarta. It is widely attributed to competition from the much larger online encyclopedia Wikipedia.
