Meet Al the llama. Tom and Karen's home outside of Cuenca. The Kookaburra is a quiet and friendly place to stay. I have a fascination with the building in Old Town Cuenca as each has it's own character. The flower market is a beautiful sight. Iglesia de Santo Domingo and Iglesia San Alfonso are two of the many beautiful churches in Old Town. The Rio Tomebamba divides the Old Town from the newer part of Cuenca.

It was pretty scary looking at this scaffolding
We needed to call our friends and since our cell phone doesn't have international capability, we had to go to one of the stores to make the call. You go into the booth and dial your number. There is a LED screen above the phone that shows how long you have been on the call and the cost. Once you have finished your call you pay the person at the desk outside the booth.
