12/21/21 - Albuquerque
2/22/21 - The Dog House has been serving great footlong chili cheese dogs for over 50 years.
The Dog House’s vintage neon sign, circa the 1950s, celebrates the cultural heritage of Route 66 with an animated neon sign that, when lit up, depicts a dachshund wagging its tail merrily as it consumes several sausages strung together.
The Dog House was one of Albuquerque's first "fast food" drive-ins, and it offered car hop service and some indoor seating. The Mead family founded it, and the Hartley family bought the restaurant in 1967 at its original location at 10th and Central Avenue. In 1969, the Dog House moved 2 blocks west on Central Avenue, America's Route 66. They still provide car hops and a handful of inside seats in a space not much larger than a shoe box, and have kept the same beloved chili recipe through the years.2/22/21 - Susan at The Dog House has been serving great footlong chili cheese dogs for over 50 years.

On April 23, 1706, Cuervo y Valdés founded "La Villa Real de San Francisco de Albuquerque" (formally Albuquerque) and named the town in honor of the Viceroy. Cuervo y Valdés ordered that a Spanish garrison be established in the city, and it was inhabited by thirty or thirty-five families.12/22/21 - San Felipe de Neri church
For more than 300 years, San Felipe de Neri Parish has been the spiritual heart of Albuquerque.
Built in 1793, it is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city and the only building in Old Town proven to date to the Spanish colonial period. The church is listed on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties and the National Register of Historic Places and has remained in continuous use for over 200 years.12/22/21 - San Felipe de Neri church

The El Don Motel, which opened in 1946 and is still in operation today, is a typical Route 66 Motel, but the neon sign is a route 66 Icon.
The neon sign was restored in 2001
Unfortunately it appears as though the motel is in need of repair and restoration.
